Battle of Saratoga
The Battle of Saratoga took place October 17, 1777. Approaching Saratoga, about 5,000 British troops led by General John Burgoyne, were met by a large American army. The British army surrendered to a far bigger American army. The defeat of the British army helped the confidence of the American troops and convinced the French troops to help with the American Revolution.
