John Locke
John Locke, an English philosopher, was born on August 29th 1632. He had a major role in the American Revolution conducting the idea that we are born with the natural rights of life, liberty, and property. He He explained the principle of checks and balances to limit government power. He favored representative government and a rule of law. He exposed tyranny, and insisted that when government violates individual rights, people are allowed rebel.
